SECURITY & PRIVACY

Account and participation safeguards

Account Security

When email code sign-in is enabled, these are the documented protections for the sign-in and browser-session flow.

  1. Request a sign-in code

    Email code requests are rate-limited by email address and IP address.

  2. Use a short-lived code

    One-time codes expire after five minutes; requesting a new code invalidates the pending code.

  3. Verify within protected limits

    A code is single-use, and a challenge is locked after five incorrect attempts.

  4. Start a protected browser session

    Session cookies are HttpOnly and use Secure and SameSite protections. Requests that change session state use CSRF safeguards.

  5. End the session

    Signing out revokes the active upstream session.

Node Participation Safety

Participation is member-controlled. Review the published program rules and available device settings before enabling participation.

For personal devices, roaming is off by default in Node settings.
